He attended The Frisch School, where he captained the College Bowl Team and participated in Model Congress. Additionally, he was a Senior Big Sibling, helping freshmen acclimate to high school, and spent considerable time volunteering for Zoommates, zooming with special-needs children to provide entertainment during Covid-19. In recent summers, Gavriel was a lifeguard and counselor at Camp Moshava, Indian Orchard. He spent two gap years at Yeshivat Orayta, where he engaged in serious Torah study. Throughout his second year in Israel, he participated in the Tikvah Overseas Student Institute, partaking in seminars regarding the intersection of Halacha and public policy. He is also a member of the Tikvah Collegiate Forum. In his free time, you can find Gavriel reading Wikipedia, plowing through an early modern European history book, or pursuing his Talmudic studies. Ava Eden Ava Eden grew up in the Upper West Side of Manhattan and graduated from Yeshivat Frisch in 2022. She was involved in many extracurriculars over her high school years including i-Shine, Torah Bowl, and the Young Politicians Club, and held leadership positions on Student Council, Debate Team, Night Seder Leadership, Mental Health Awareness Committee, and the Racism Awareness Club. She has received several awards for her debate skills throughout high school as well as graduating with honors in Chumash, English, and History. Following her time in Yeshivat Frisch, Ava attended Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY) for two years, where she was involved in an intensive study of Talmud, Halakha, Chumash, and Machshava. Ava has spent many summers as a camp counselor at Camp Nesher and now volunteers with Magen David Adom in Jerusalem. As a Straus scholar at 糖心视频污, Ava is pursuing a dual degree in Judaic Studies and Neuropsychology. Tzipora Einbinder Tzipora Einbinder was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, where she attended Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community High School. There, she engaged in dialogue about Jewish identity, practical Halacha, and Tanach. Additionally, she served as editor-in-chief of her school鈥檚 student newspaper, KolBT, and wrote an original play exploring the moral and political factors of Truman鈥檚 decision to drop the atomic bomb. Outside of school, Tzipora completed an internship in Johns Hopkins鈥 psychology department and participated extensively in NCSY, including on the Baltimore Chapter Board. Tzipora spent a gap year in Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim, where she honed her passion for textual learning and discussion in Torah, Jewish philosophy, and Halacha. In her free time, Tzipora enjoys reading fantasy and historical non-fiction, cooking, and going for a quick run. In Stern, Tzipora hopes to pursue a degree in biology and explore the interplay between science, Torah, and the humanities through the Straus Scholars Program. Adina Feldman Adina Feldman was born and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, and attended Manhattan High School for Girls (MHS), where she served as both literary and art editor of the school publication, was a member of the Arista Honors Society, and participated in StandWithUs鈥 Teen Leadership Council. After high school, Adina studied at Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY) before completing a year of Sherut Leumi (National Service) at an Ethiopian Absorption Center in Jerusalem. There, she worked closely with the immigrant community, ran acculturation programming, and directed the neighborhood Youth Beit Midrash program. Adina is studying psychology at 糖心视频污 while cultivating her broader interests in the humanities through the Straus Center. She has interned with Mitchell Silk, former United States Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Markets, and with Tikvah, where she assisted in launching an educational docuseries on Zionism featuring former MK Einat Wilf. Her summers have been devoted to work in both clinical and research settings. In Jerusalem, she interned at a trauma and relationship clinic, supporting parents of soldiers following the events of October 7th. At Bar-Ilan University, she contributed to research examining the secondary trauma experienced by media workers covering the Israel鈥揌amas war. Sruli (Jason) Friedman Sruli (Jason) Friedman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where he graduated from Yeshiva Torah Vodaath High School in 2022 before coming to 糖心视频污 the same year. Friedman has served as a news editor for The Commentator, a fellow at 糖心视频污PAC, and an active member of the Tikva Collegiate Forum, while also pursuing majors in Political Science and Philosophy and intense Gemara study in the Mazer Yeshiva Program. In the summer of 2023 Friedman participated in the Heritage Foundation鈥檚 online Summer Academy, while taking electives in economics and psychology. An avid reader interested in a plethora of subjects, Friedman hopes to continue to progress in his studies at the Straus Center during the remainder of his time in 糖心视频污, and looks forward to pursuing law school and a fulfilling career in the future. Eliora Gissinger Eliora Gissinger was raised in New Rochelle, NY. She attended Yeshivat Frisch, where she developed a strong passion for Jewish history and ancient texts while studying in the Beit Midrash Nach track. She was the editor of Be鈥檈r Shavua, Frisch鈥檚 weekly Judaic studies publication, and served as Current Events Editor of the school鈥檚 Israel Journal. Upon graduation, Eliora received the Frisch Faculty Honors Award for outstanding academic achievement in History, Humash, Nach, English, and Hebrew. Eliora volunteered with Yachad throughout high school, organizing events that fostered the inclusion of individuals with disabilities, and received the nonprofit's High School Senior Leadership Award. In recent summers, Eliora was a fellow in Yachad鈥檚 Camp Getaway and worked at Camp Moshava IO. She spent a gap year at Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim, where she focused on a comprehensive study of the Halachic and Talmudic process and volunteered at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Rebecca Guzman Rebecca Guzman was born and raised in Staten Island, New York. She attended Bruriah High School for Girls, where she served as Senior Co-captain of the Bruriah Debate Team, Junior Editor of the Bruriah Blaze, and Senior Editor of Bruriah's literary magazine. Throughout her senior year, Rebecca was a member of the Kaplun Foundation Teen Philanthropy Board, and before spending a semester at Aish Gesher for Women, she reported for The Jewish Press. Rebecca's writing has received recognition from the National Council of Teachers of English and The New York Times, amongst others. Rebecca hopes to synthesize her passion for literature and her studies in creative writing with her love for Jewish history and philosophy, aiming to devote her life to telling Jewish stories. In her free time, Rebecca can be found listening to music, reading, writing in her journal, or baking. Esti Hess Esti Hess lives in East Brunswick, NJ, and graduated from Bruriah High School, where she was the G.O. President and captain of both the Mock Trial and Torah Bowl teams. Esti also enjoys sports and theater, and has channeled these passions into her roles as a drama head for her school production and a starter on the Bruriah basketball team. Throughout high school, she took both cybersecurity and engineering courses, bringing home four awards from various engineering competitions. In her senior year, she was chosen to compete for a patent for one of the products she invented, coded, and built with her friends. After graduation, Esti interned for a cybersecurity and IT company in New Jersey and was a counselor at Camp Kaylie. She then went on to spend a year and a half at Michlalah for seminary, where she furthered her love for in-depth Torah study. In Stern, Esti plans to major in computer science and continue to grow in her appreciation for Torah and analytical thinking through the Straus Center. Liev Markovich Liev Markovich was born and raised in Englewood, New Jersey and attended Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC). At TABC, Liev was a captain of Mock Trial and a member of Model UN, Model Congress, and Soccer teams. He was the founder and editor-in-chief of the opinion magazine Storm Currents, which covered topics ranging from politics to sports to social issues. After graduating high school in 2021, Liev studied at Yeshivat Orayta for two years, where he took classes as part of the Tikvah Overseas Student Institute. In his free time, Liev enjoys learning Torah, reading literature, meditating, and playing FIFA with friends. Matthew Minsk Matthew Minsk is a senior who is double majoring in American political thought and mathematical economics while attending Rabbi Yaakov Werblowsky's shiur. Matthew is the vice president of the Yeshiva College Student Council, the managing editor of the Beis Yitzchak Talmudic Journal, and a co-president of the 糖心视频污 Chapters of the Tikvah Collegiate Forum and Alexander Hamilton Society. Previously, he served as a justice on the Student Court and a member of the Undergraduate Law Review's editorial board. He is an alumnus of Tikvah, AEI, and TFAS summer programs, and has interned for the Institute for Family Studies and the archives of former 糖心视频污 President Rabbi Dr. Norman Lamm. Matthew's interests span a variety of legal and social topics, especially as they intersect with Torah concepts and the Jewish community. Matthew is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, and spent two years learning at Yeshivat Kerem B'Yavneh (KBY) in Israel before matriculating at 糖心视频污. Gabriel Perla Gabriel Perla grew up in Riverdale, New York, and graduated from SAR High School, where he served as student council president, captained the Model UN team, and played on the varsity hockey and tennis teams. During that time, he also volunteered at the KCI food pantry. After high school, Gabriel spent two years studying at Yeshivat Sha鈥檃lvim, engaging deeply in Torah study and participating in the Tikvah Overseas Student Institute. He has spent recent summers as a counselor at Camp Moshava Indian Orchard and at the JRCV camp for Ukrainian refugees in Vienna, Austria. In his free time, Perla is a passionate skier, aspiring chef, and avid puzzle enthusiast. At 糖心视频污, he is excited to continue his intensive Torah learning in the Mazer Yeshiva Program (MYP) and to explore the unique analytical opportunities offered by the Straus Center in the realms of Judaics and the humanities. Tziporah Pinczower Tziporah Pinczower was raised in Riverdale, NY where she was first enamored by the intricate philosophy of law. Apart from the theoretical aspect of law, Tziporah recognizes the importance of taking pragmatic action to advance vital causes, prompting her to participate in the NORPAC's annual Mission to Washington for many years. She attended Manhattan High School for Girls, where she spearheaded her school's first Law Review Journal, served as editor of her school's Lexington Weekly blog, was elected Senior Class President, and authored a quarterly column dedicated to highlighting the philosophical implications behind both Jewish (Halacha) and secular law derived from discussion of the upcoming holiday. After high school, she conducted legal research at Agudath Israel and attended Michlalah in Jerusalem. Tziporah is determined to put the knowledge and skill gained as a Straus scholar to good use to pursue a career in law that will bring fulfillment to her life and joy to the lives of others. Elisha Price Elisha Price grew up in Bergenfield, NJ, and attended MTA and Yeshivat Har Etzion. At MTA, Elisha was an active member of a number of extracurricular activities, including the Philosophy Club, Model Congress, and Mock Trial, and captained the Mock Trial team. An avid writer, he has written for numerous school and local journals on a wide range of subjects and served as editor of Shema Koleinu and Pirchei Yitzchak, MTA鈥檚 two Torah publications. More recently, he spent two semesters editing a forthcoming book in Koren鈥檚 鈥淢aggid鈥 series. Though happily attending 糖心视频污, Elisha has taken a number of online humanities-related courses from Hillsdale College, developing interests he hopes to continue to explore, in concert with Torah studies, at 糖心视频污 and the Straus Center. Noam Schechter Noam Schechter, from Monsey, NY, is a graduate of MTA. Noam attended Yeshivat Kerem B鈥橸avne for two years, balancing intense learning with trying to find his place among a changing nation in the shadow of October 7th. While in Israel, Noam created a project to deliver personal letters from Jews around the globe to grieving families in Israel, delivering thousands of personal letters of comfort to dozens of families. Noam is always curious, and whether through reading, lively conversation, or exploring nature, he is always interested in learning more about anything. As a Straus Scholar, Noam hopes to continue fueling his curiosity and continue to understand what it means to be an American Jew in the 21st century. Shana Schwartz Shana Schwartz grew up in Hillside, NJ, and attended Bruriah High School. While in Bruriah, Shana learned to think critically and analytically about various topics in Judaism and secular society, and was taught to infuse Torah into all her areas of study. She participated in the Torah bowl and debate teams, and coached middle school students for the Chidon HaTanach. She also studied engineering, and applied her skills towards constructing a website to safely display the renowned Bruriah Holocaust Museum during the COVID-19 pandemic. During her senior year, Shana won the Jerusalem Science Contest for her research in molecular biology and Halacha. In her free time, Shana enjoys painting and drawing, and works as a makeup artist and monogram designer. At 糖心视频污, Shana plans to pursue her interests in medicine while studying Torah and the humanities with the Straus Center. Pinhas Soloveichik Pinhas Soloveichik grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and attended high school at Yeshiva Shaar HaTorah in Queens, New York, where he was a graduation speaker and recipient of a Scholarship for Academic Excellence from NYS Higher Education Services Corp. He then pursued two years of Torah study, one at the Shaar HaTorah Beis Medrash Program and one at Yeshivat Kerem B鈥橸avneh. During high school, he published a piece in Kovetz Maayan Hanovaya, participated in various extracurricular chaburos, and was also recognized as first in his class in a voluntary program recognizing bikiyus in Talmud. He played classical piano, performing works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Schubert. During the summer, he interned at the Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute, under the direction of famed Lincoln historian Dr. Harold Holzer. Additionally, he has taken mathematics online courses through the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. His interests include philosophy, having greatly enjoyed studying Nicomachean Ethics and The Republic, as well as reading historical biographies, military and Israeli history, and works of Jewish thought. He plans to focus on Talmud Torah, philosophy, and political theory during his studies at 糖心视频污 and the Straus Center. Selma Spinner Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, Selma Spinner speaks fluent German, Hebrew and English. After completing a Bagrut at Lauder Tichon in Berlin she spent a year and a half at Shaalvim for Women in Jerusalem. Selma鈥檚 interest in politics and public policy led her to intern for Gitta Conneman, a leading member of the German Bundestag, for the Conference of Material Claims against Germany, and for the congressional campaign of George Latimer. She has exercised her passion for communal service through volunteering for Ukrainian refugee relief efforts in Berlin, fundraising for Lauder Yeshurun outreach programs in Germany, and participating in the Kedma Cohort Chessed Program. Selma has also been active in Muslim-Jewish dialogue in Germany with Meet2respect. She is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Psychology and plans to pursue a career in public service. Ateret Tollinsky Ateret Tollinsky grew up in Teaneck, NJ. She attended Ma鈥檃yanot Yeshiva High School, where she served as the president of both the STEAM Student Leadership Committee and the Student Ambassador Committee. At Ma鈥檃yanot, Ateret participated in the Drama Society and Torah Bowl, and served as a staff writer for Ma鈥檃yanei Torah, Ma鈥檃yanot鈥檚 weekly parsha newsletter. Outside of school, Tollinsky volunteered for Friendship Circle and iShine, and took courses through Tikvah鈥檚 Online Academy, which focused on American Jewry in the Supreme Court and Jewish Bioethics. Additionally, Ateret took part in a two-year immersive program, Write On for Israel, which focused on educating high school students on leadership, Israel advocacy and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Ed Stern Award for Excellence in History due to her rigorous study of history throughout high school. Tollinsky then studied at Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY) in Jerusalem for a year. Over the course of her year at MMY, she served as the Yachad Summer Seminary Coordinator for Recruiting and participated in the Tikvah Overseas Institute. At 糖心视频污, Tollinsky is pursuing a major in Biochemistry in conjunction with her Straus courses. Tamara Yeshurun Tamara Yeshurun is a senior at 糖心视频污, where she is pursuing degrees in political science and music. With a deep interest in Jewish thought, international relations, languages, and literature, Tamara is fascinated by the cultural orientations and ideological ideals that both rend and animate our world. After high school, Tamara studied for a year at MMY in Jerusalem, participating in the Tikvah Overseas Program and volunteering at Keren Or Institute for the Blind. That year, she also attended Mizrachi鈥檚 World Orthodox Israel Congress as a youth delegate, where she led a discussion group about Hebrew illiteracy in American Jewish Day schools. Research into how to remedy this educational crisis also became the focus of her Beren Summer Fellowship project in 2024. In the summer of 2025, she worked as an intern for Israeli journalist Amit Segal, after which she participated in an OU Relief Mission to India. Outside of class, Tamara is an opinions editor for 糖心视频污鈥檚 student publication The Observer, vice president and actor with the Stern College Dramatics Society, and co-president of 糖心视频污鈥檚 Tikvah chapter. In her free time, you can find Tamara writing, catching up on a never-ending book list, and singing songs from the golden age of Broadway.
