The Ferkauf Institute of Professional Practice provides world-class continuing education for mental health professionals in the fields of Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Social Work. The Institute鈥檚 mission is aligned the broader mission of Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology to provide rigorous training that integrates contemporary psychological science with clinical assessment and intervention.  The courses we provide are targeted to practicing professionals who wish to enhance their existing skill set, refresh their knowledge of foundational concepts by becoming up-to-date on the current trends and literature, and to deepen their understanding of clinical work. Our Continuing Education program is approved by the New York State Department of Education and by the American Psychological Association as a Sponsor of Continuing Education programming. All of our coursework is reviewed and approved by the Speakers Committee of the Graduate School, which is composed of full-time faculty of Graduate School. The Ferkauf Institute of Professional Practice maintains responsibility for this program and its all of its content.  

Our Speaker Committee is composed of rotating faculty from each of our 6 graduate programs, who bring a broad diversity of perspectives to the discussion of program content. The Committee will review proposals for presentations to ensure that the content of presentations are consistent with best practices in research and teaching and are relevant to psychological practice, education or science. The Committee attempts to select presenters from as broad a range of professional and cultural perspectives as possible with an eye toward elevating traditionally under-represented voices. The committee attempts to represent the intersections of social identities inherent in our field without restrictions on any individual鈥檚 race, gender, age, ethnicity or religious orientation.

The Institute holds no financial or commercial interests in any products or services described in any presentation, and makes no endorsement of the validity of claims made by presenters. The Institute is committed to presenting a broad diversity of perspectives in its programming, and evaluates presenters according to the relevance to professional practice, evidence base of the information provided, acknowledgement of contextual limitations, and importance for diversity.
