Last week, 14 (MTA) and six (Central) students traveled to Israel to participate in the Jersualem Marathon with Team SHALVA鈥檚 National Children Center, which supports children with disabilities.

The students raised a total of over $60,000 for SHALVA during the past school year. They chose the cause because they felt a personal connection to SHALVA鈥檚 mission to help young people of all abilities succeed. "Running through the gates and streets of the Old City of Jerusalem was really inspirational,鈥 said Elie Hirt, assistant director of student activities and recruitment at MTA.

"This was the most meaningful run of my life, and knowing that my students and I were supporting SHALVA made it that much more momentous," said Bracha Rutner, assistant principal at Central.
鈥淲e were running for the best cause in the world, while spending time in the best land in the world,鈥 said student Reuven Penn.
