Dr. Ephraim Kanarfogel, E. Billi Ivry University Professor of Jewish History, Literature and Law, recently published three articles: 鈥淩abbinic Conceptions of Matchmaking in Medieval Europe,鈥 in Entangled Histories: Knowledge, Authority, and Jewish Culture in the Thirteenth Century (University of Pennsylvania Press); 鈥淩eturning Apostates and their Marital Partners in Medieval Ashkenaz,鈥 in Contesting Inter-Religious Conversion in the Medieval World (Routledge Press, London and New York); and (in Hebrew) 鈥淭osafists as Peshat Exegetes: A Century after S. A. Poznanski鈥檚 Introduction to Biblical Exegesis in Northern France,鈥 in the inaugural volume of Mikhlol (Pardes Conference Series, Jerusalem).
In addition, he presented a paper, 鈥淩. Judah he-Hasid and the Tosafists of Northern France,鈥 at an international conference on Sefer Hasidim and its Context, held at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the National Library of Israel. One of Kanarfogel鈥檚 doctoral students at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies, Chaya Sima Koenigsberg (whose dissertation deals with the writings of Judah鈥檚 leading student, R. Eleazar of Worms), was also invited to participate in the conference deliberations.
