Dr. Michelle Levine, associate professor of Bible at recently delivered a number of lectures to various communities in the United States and Israel.
In December, Levine spoke at the Midreshet Yom Rishon in Lower Merion Synagogue, Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, on the topic, 鈥淔orging Our Nation鈥檚 Identity: Lessons from Exile and Redemption.鈥 She also delivered a lecture at the Tanach be-Shanah series at the Young Israel of Oceanside, New York, titled, 鈥淭esting the Limits of Leadership: The Narrative on King Uzziyahu鈥檚 Leprosy in the Book of Chronicles.鈥
In January, Levine spoke at the women鈥檚 monthly lecture series in the community of Hashmonaim, Israel, on the topic of 鈥淩evealing the Light of Redemption through Our Prayers,鈥 at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Hecht. For the Rosh Chodesh series sponsored by Congregation Etz Chaim, Kew Gardens Hills, NY, she delivered a lecture in February titled, 鈥淚srael on Trial: The Poetic Testimony of the Song of Ha鈥檃zinu.鈥
In early March, Levine traveled to Chicago, Illinois where she spoke to the junior and senior girls of Ida Crown Jewish Academy, on 鈥淧erpetuating the Sinai Experience: The Message of the Mishkan for Our Times,鈥 in honor of the dedication of their new building, and at the request of her former students who currently teach at this high school. On Shabbat, she delivered an expanded version of this shiur to the North of Touhy Street Women鈥檚 Shiur of Adas Yeshurun, at the home of Mrs. Leah Cohen.
The following week, Levine spoke at Congregation Ohab Zedek in Belle Harbor, New York, for their Rosh Chodesh lecture series, on the topic of 鈥淐lothing Makes the Kohen: The Symbolism of the Priestly Garments.鈥
